Christmas won’t look the same in Pennsylvania this year, with the coronavirus pandemic closing down many much-loved traditional events. But there are many that remain and are ready to make the season bright. Here’s a look at 18 holiday happenings, from cookie tours to Christmas markets to flower shows. You can find them below. Peoples Gas Holiday Market: The market returns for a ninth year in Pittsburgh. This open-air market is made up in the European tradition and has lots of vendors to check out. It’s also right by the city’s outdoor ice rink and a replica of the Vatican’s Nativity Scene at the U.S. Steel Tower. Because of COVID-19, social distancing will be encouraged and face masks must be worn. You’re also told to not touch or handle products unless you want to buy them. It’s open through Dec. 11. Winter Flower Show: Home for the Holidays: The Phipps Conservatory is adorned in all its winter glory, filling its greenhouses with lights, trees, poinsettias and other winter plants. There are magical looking topiaries, a carousel and more. Tickets for this show must be purchased in advance. You’ll find Phipps at 1 Schenley Park in Pittsburgh. Koziar’s Christmas Village: A 73-year-old holiday gem, Koziar’s is filled with lights and Christmas joy. You’ll find festive displays and a boutique where you can grab a great gift. Peddler’s Village: The village is decked out for the holidays. Stop by to find the perfect Christmas gift from one of its 65 shops and boutiques. You can also check out its display of gingerbread houses and a 1920s carousel. There are mystery walking tours, holiday cooking decorating nights and appearances by Santa. A Very Furry Christmas Celebration: Sesame Place is ready for the holiday season with this festive event that includes cookie factory tours, numerous light displays and Christmas-themed shows from your favorite Sesame residents. The festivities run through Dec. 27. You’ll find Sesame Place at 100 Sesame Road in Middletown Township. Learn more at sesameplace.com.

A Longwood Christmas: The renown holiday display at Longwood is back for another year. Dress warmly, because you’ll want to explore more than just the decorated conservatory -- the outdoor gardens are covered in lights too! Longwood Gardens is located at 1001 Longwood Road in East Marlborough Township. Its Christmas show is up through Jan. 10. Learn more and purchase tickets at Longwoodgardens.org.

Candy Cane Cottage: Explore the gardens at Hershey, including a walk through a path of giant candy canes and Christmas trees. There are also live music performances going on in the gardens as well. Hersheypark Christmas Candylane: Hersheypark is open for the holidays and all dressed up for the occasion. Ride the rides, explore its tree trail and even spot Santa’s reindeer. “It’s a Wonderful Life” Festival: Head over to Downtown Indiana to enjoy this festival. Known for being the Christmas Tree Capital of the World and the birthplace of “It’s a Wonderful Life” star Jimmy Stewart, Indiana is filled with cute shops and restaurants to explore. There’s also the Jimmy Stewart Museum, where you can catch matinees of the black and white classic. Santa is in town on weekends and there are decorated Christmas trees all around. There’s also community caroling on Dec. 16 at IRMC Park between 6 and 7 p.m. The entire festival runs through Dec. 20. Learn more at downtown indiana.org.

Amish Christmas Cookie Table: Learn more about the Amish culture on this tour in Lancaster, all while enjoying cookies! On the tour you’ll be visiting Amish homes and visiting farms. Social distancing will be encouraged and masks must be worn when inside. Tickets are $44.95 for adults (ages 12 and up) and $29.95 for children (ages 5-11). It’s $6.95 for those 4 and younger. Tours run on Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 19. The event is put on by The Amish Farm and House, which is located at 2395 Covered Bridge Drive in East Lampeter Township. Christmas Village in Bird-in-Hand: This adorable Lancaster County town is embracing the festive season on Dec. 11 and 12 for two days-worth of fun. There will be a s’mores bonfire, photos with live reindeer, visits with Santa, glitter tattoos and carriage rides too. Holiday Family Fun at Kitchen Kettle Village: There’s plenty to do at Kitchen Kettle Village during the winter season, including its special Holiday Family Fun ticketed event that includes a scavenger hunt, bakery box, stocking and a chance to meet Santa. There’s also the Festive Family Tasting Tour, where you can enjoy a tidbit of food at various eateries in the Village, photo opportunities with Santa, storytelling with Mrs. Claus and a scavenger hunt as well. Strasburg Rail Road: If you take a ride on one of Strasburg Rail Road’s oldschool trains this holiday season you might even see Santa. Old St. Nick is making an appearance on the rail road’s Christmas trains, which run 45 minute round trip journeys through Dec. 24. There’s also The Night Before Christmas Train, which runs through Dec. 23. On those trains a special reader will be on board to entertain kids with the story of “The Night Before Christmas.” You’ll find the rail road at 301 Gap Road in Strasburg Township. Blue Cross Riverrink Winterfest: Don your most festive mask and head to Winterfest, where you’ll find an ice skating rink, games, rides, food, drink and general merriment. Christmas Village in Philadelphia: This Philadelphia tradition is back for another year at LOVE Park. The outdoor German-style market has an abundance of artisans and vendors selling their wares and a selection of German food, beer and mulled wine to purchase. It has implemented some COVID-19 safety protocols, including encouraging social distancing and having a separate area for food vendors. Holiday Garden Railway: The Morris Arboretum’s epic miniature railroad display is up through Dec. 31. This family-friendly Christmas attraction features loops and tunnels for the 15 different rail lines to go on as you enjoy the garden sights. It’s open during the day and at night, where the whole display is illuminated. You’ll find it at 100 E. Northwestern Ave. in Philadelphia. Holidays at East Market: This shopping and dining destination is embracing the holiday season with a variety of festive programming and activities. There’s a 20-foot tree and rotating jazz performances, as well as a special Wayward Cocktail Truck where you can purchase a seasonal cocktail that you can sip on by a fire pit. Want to help others while satisfying your own hunger? Grab a bagel from Schmear It, where a portion of proceeds from the purchase of seasonal bagels will go to the Bethesda Project, which helps the homeless. Winter in Franklin Square: Head to this historic square for some holiday fun. Franklin Square boasts a carousel, miniature golf course and a playground.
