PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) -Main Street in Presque Isle was filled with holiday cheer as carolers sang Christmas carols to passing motorists. Here’s Megan Cole with more.
It was a holly jolly night on Main street in Presque Isle. This was all part of the Framework Church Spread the joy campaign that has been going on for the month of December
“We had to be a little creative obviously with the pandemic caroling traditionally we haven’t been able to do like we usually like to go to the nursing home we did have a group go earlier this week and carol outside of the windows but we wanted to be creative and figured like a caroling kind of tunnel downtown would be a really unique way to hopefully encourage people and just get the chance to spread the Christmas spirit and some joy.”
Rowe says it was important to do this because this year has been hard on many people.
“It’s been a tough year for a lot of people for a lot of us included and so just to kind of to counter a lot of the negativity and turmoil and just hardship that we’re all going through we wanted to be able to do something positive something that’s familiar also like Christmas caroling is a big tradition for a lot of people.”
Carolers were happy to be able to spread some cheer to the community.
“Well it’s fun to be here. Really enjoying ourselves just so many things are missed this year in the Christmas season because of all that we’re going through and it was just fun to be down and just bring a little smile to some people faces.”
“I always went caroling as a kid we used to go as a church group and deliver meals and things to different families sing at their doorstep so it’s a little different this year because of COVID but it’s just fun to bring some Christmas cheer in any way.”
