RICHMOND, Texas – The 8,000 vaccine appointment slots that were opened in Fort Bend County on Tuesday morning have been filled.

Fort Bend County Judge KP George held a news conference to announce a new round of registration after the county received thousands of doses of the coronavirus vaccine. All of those slots were filled by lunchtime.

During the news conference, George said Fort Bend County had been officially designated as a vaccine hub, meaning the county will now be receiving regular doses of the vaccine.

George said people can register when new doses are received by going to the Fort Bend County website. Only people who are in phases 1A or 1B will be eligible for the vaccine at this time.

While the vaccine offers a “light at the end of the tunnel,” George said people must continue to adhere to CDC guidelines to stay safe and continue to fight the virus.
