Early Sunday morning around midnight, there was a deadly crash on NC Highway 540 near Exit 55 near Apex.
The driver of a BMW lost control, ran off the road and hit a minivan. State troopers said speed was a factor.
The driver of the BMW, Isabelle Anna Cedeno, 19, of Fuquay-Varina, died.
Three adults were in the minivan: Joseph Beutler, 32, Kaela Beutler, 28, Andreina Gjuzi, 25, all from Apex. Two eight-month-old girls and a 2-year-old girl were also in the minivan.
All people in the minivan were taken to WakeMed. The driver of the minivan was treated for serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries. Both adult passengers and the three children were treated for minor injuries.
All lanes of I-540 were closed for several hours, but opened before 5 a.m. Sunday.
According to Highway Patrol, Speed on the part of Cedeno was a factor in the collision, impairment is currently unknown and the crash remains under investigation.
