The RiverPark Center recently announced their full official 2023-24 lineup, which includes a wide range of entertainment from musical talent across several genres to Broadway caliber plays to comedians.
“The goal was to get a very diverse lineup for people with different tastes and with the utmost highest quality,” RPC Executive Director Rich Jorn said. “I like when people say, ‘Hey, that speaks to me, and I’m excited about seeing this.’”
The season’s three-show Broadway lineup starts with “Come From Away” on October 30. The musical is based on the true events in the Newfoundland town of Gander during the week following the 9/11 attacks, when 38 planes carrying approximately 7,000 passengers were ordered to land unexpectedly at Gander International Airport.
On February 22, RPC will welcome “Johnny Cash — The Official Concert Experience” as the Estate of Johnny Cash. With videos of Cash projected on a screen above the stage, a live band and singers will accompany him in perfect sync.
The Broadway season ends with the Tony Award-winning musical “The Book of Mormon” on May 15. The production has been heralded as “the best musical of the century” by The New York Times and one of the funniest musicals of all time by Entertainment Weekly.
Outside of the Broadway shows, RPC has a deep lineup in store with the Director Series.
That series kicks off with the start of the season including a tribute to Whitney Houston in “The Greatest Love of All.” On August 3, the 2-hour tribute show promises to fill guests with nostalgia and joy as they journey through Houston’s memorable songs including “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” “How Will I Know,” “I Will Always Love You,” and more.
The Happy Together tour makes a stop at RPC on August 5, playing several chart-topping hits from the 1960s and 1970s.
The season continues with the Taylor Swift Laser Dance Party on August 11, allowing fans to enjoy the star’s discography without actually being at one of her “Eras” concerts.
On August 24, five-time Grammy-winning Christian artist Steven Curtis Chapman, with almost 60 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards and over 30 years of music, takes the stage.
Grammy-nominated singer Elle King comes to Owensboro on August 25. King is a four-time Grammy nominee — two each in the rock and country categories — and has received honors from the Country Music Association Awards and the Academy of Country Music Awards.
The Tequila & Whiskey/Bourbon Comedy Tour makes a stop on September 22, gospel singer John P. Kee will perform on September 29, and street band WAR will take the stage on September 30
A pair of musical fill the October slate. Before “Come From Away” closes out the month, on October 27 guests can experience “Madagascar the Musical.”
November closes out the 2023 schedule with Christian Rock artist Crowder on the 2nd, the Ozark Mountain Daredevils band on the 5th, and Church Basement Ladies presenting a musical comedy on the 19th.
Things pick back up on February 10 with the roots music of Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience.
On March 22, fans of classic rock artist Elton John can enjoy a take on his hits as Rus Anderson — Elton John’s official body double — performs songs from the legendary singer.
On April 25, ABBA cover band Arrival From Sweden, performing in venues worldwide since 1995, will be at the RiverPark Center.
The season comes to a close with Rock and Rock Hall of Fame inductees The Spinners on May 12.
