Entering Tuesday’s rematch, BOLD was ranked fifth while Minnewaska was ranked 12th in Class AA.

In a bit of a role reversal, it was the Lakers who recovered from a halftime deficit. Minnewaska trailed by nine at the break before ralling to collect a 62-59 overtime victory over the Warriors during a West Central Conference game from BOLD Elementary School.

Lakers senior post Brady Hoffman scored six of his team-high 22 points in the extra period. Draining six 3-pointers, senior guard Drew Sagedahl led all players with 34 points. He also had six points in overtime.

Slicing the Minnewaska defense with a variety of backdoor cuts, the home team went up 18-8 before Lakers head coach Phil Johnsrud called a timeout with 9 minutes, 29 second remaining at the half.

The visitors responded with a 12-2 surge capped by a wide-open Hoffman basket inside to tie the game at 20-20. After being limited to one field goal in a six-minute span, BOLD bursted back in front with an 11-2 run.

Sagedahl posted 18 points in the first half, including a 3-pointer five feet behind the line at the buzzer as the hosts went into the locker room up 31-22.

While the star guard continuing his scoring barrage in the second half, Minnewaska limited the rest of his teammates. Warriors junior guard/forward Cole Visser had all seven of his points in the second half and was the team’s second-leading scorer. Aside from Sagedahl and Visser, the rest of the team combined to put up five points in the second half and overtime.

Peyton Johnsrud had 10 of his 12 points in the second half.
