Byrne: He's our man; if he can't do it who can? - CapeGazette.com

A simple slogan from a bygone era when Rehoboth was what many still want it to be.  The good news in 2021 is that we are having the best year ever, as far as visitors and national awareness are concerned. The bad news is that because of the pandemic, we don’t have the resources to control and capitalize on that success.  Experience counts.

Dick and his wife Sherri settled full time in Rehoboth in 2009, the same year that my wife Lois and I did. We have watched Dick in action very closely ever since. His resume is unmatched by his competitors, and his calendar always full, but he remains committed to the Rehoboth community. When I was on the Bandstand/Convention Hall Committee, Dick was the only commissioner not on the committee to attend our sessions, and he even went so far as to fly back from Florida to attend council meetings during his vacation.  Experience counts.

The future of Rehoboth lies in maximizing public-private partnerships.  Dick Byrne has vast experience in both areas, and he understands the power of consensus. University management, environmental and animal issues, senior concerns, health and fitness, homeowner association management, community resources and city beautification are just a few of the issues with which Dick is intimately familiar.  He has firsthand knowledge of the city, the mayor and council, our committees and our partners, the chamber of commerce, Main Street, Sussex County, the State of Delaware and, most important, the residents of Rehoboth themselves. Experience counts.

Dolle’s has left the Boardwalk, Nicola’s will no longer be on First Street, and thanks to the election, everyone knows our name.

But we are much more than just The Nation’s Summer Capital.  The Boardwalk, surf and sand will always be here, and I am certain that Dick Byrne will continue to make Rehoboth a special place for friends, family, food, farms, festivals and faith. Experience counts, especially when it is focused on making a  better Rehoboth. Re-elect Dick Byrne to city council.
