Legendary production/songwriting duo Jam & Lewis have teamed up with Rated R&B to premiere the official lyric video for their Usher-assisted track “Do It Yourself.” The song is lifted from their debut album, Jam & Lewis, Vol. 1, which was released on July 9.
The visual follows Jam & Lewis’ lyric videos for “Somewhat Loved (There You Go Breakin’ My Heart)” featuring Mariah Carey and “Til I Found You” featuring Sounds of Blackness, and the official video for “He Don’t Know Nothin’ Bout It” featuring Babyface.
Although “Do It Yourself” arrives with a lyric video, Jam & Lewis consider the song to be a focus track and not a proper single — at least for now. “It’s a possibility,” Jam tells Rated R&B when asked about their album’s next single. “I don’t think we’ve decided what we would go with for the next single.”
He adds, “We did decide that we wanted to do lyric videos for all of the songs. We wanted to have some sort of visual component, in a way where we don’t infringe on the artist’s time because they’ve already given us so much of their time to make the record in the first place. We wanted to have something visual for each of the songs because we think the lyrics are all really special.”
Jam & Lewis, Vol. 1 also includes collaborations with Mary J. Blige, Boyz II Men, Toni Braxton, Heather Headley, Charlie
