I don’t know where to start in refuting “Trump loves America and the American people” (Reading Eagle, Aug. 4).
Just the first paragraph, which claims accomplishments “leading to one of the most successful presidencies” can be debated in lengthy paragraphs. It’s so misleading to praise accomplishments he made without mentioning them.
The letter contends that “the establishment wants full power and control.” It was President Donald Trump who wanted voting machines confiscated and called Georgia officials to just add a few more votes.
He blocked a congressionally mandated military aid package to Ukraine while demanding that nation’s leaders turn over information to harm Joe Biden’s political prospects.
The national debt rose $7.8 trillion during Trump’s time in office.
Personal gain? He had the Secret Service stay in his hotel at a cost of $650 a night, paid by taxpayers. He played many rounds of golf at his courses at a cost of millions of dollars to taxpayers. People he hired to do work for him have still not been paid.
What happened to all the money his followers have sent him?
He loves our country? He hosted a golf tournament backed by the Saudi government, which was identified as being behind the murder of reporter Jamal Khashoggi and a brutal war in Yemen. Most of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudis.
The most damaging testimony in the congressional hearings regarding Jan. 6, 2021, has come from those who worked in the Trump administration.
