LIVERPOOL TOWNSHIP — Liverpool Township Police Chief Jared Kinemond has filled the vacant full-time officer position that was created by a recent resignation with part-time officer Jake Talbot.

Talbot will start as a full-time officer on Nov. 19.

Kinemond requested at the Nov. 15 trustee meeting that the trustees vote to waive probationary wages based on Talbot’s years of full-time experience. Kinemond noted that Talbot would still be on a one-year probationary period for the position but would receive the regular wages of $20.88 an hour.

The trustees voted all in favor on the request.

Kinemond also in his report to the trustees noted that he contacted the dealership in regards to the township’s two new police cruisers and found out they should be setting up the dates for when they are going to start building on the cruisers next week.

“I made sure and talked to them and asked them are we for sure getting them and they said yes, that they just have to place the order and that next week they will also actually get the VIN numbers for the vehicles so they will know exactly when they are going to be here,” Kinemond said.

Kinemond also noted that he would like to get the equipment for the cruisers ordered now as it will take some time to come in. The trustees approved a request for the chief to have Hall Public Safety County install the equipment in the cruisers at a cost of $27,664.19. This is in addition to the cost of the cruisers at $96,164.

Kinemond additionally noted that all that would be left to do is get a quote for the lettering of the cruisers. The patrolman association, to save the township money, purchased new shotguns and ARs for the new cruisers.

In his report for the fire department, Mike Bahen requested approval from the trustees to use a $2,500 grant from Heritage to buy a new phone for the fire truck. Behan noted that the department is running out of phones. The trustees approved his request.

Road Supervisor Chris Bosworth in his report to the trustees requested approval for the installation of a light in the field at the entry way to the firing range. Bosworth noted that the cost of the light as estimated by AEP would be between $25 to $30 a month. The trustees approved his request.

Bosworth also said that in preparation for winter, the township’s trucks have been undercoated and painted where they needed painted, and that he is still working on getting ash. Road crews have spent the last couple of weeks cleaning out the entry way to ditches where leaves have plugged them up, he added.

Liverpool Township Trustees meet every other Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the township administration building.

The next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 29.
