Fraudulent loan application filled out with Athens woman’s information

An Athens woman contacted Athens-Clarke County police on Nov. 8 after she was alerted that her name, date of birth and driver’s license number were used to fill out a fraudulent loan application, according to an ACCPD report.

The woman had been contacted by a closing lawyer she used in the past because another lawyer from Atlanta had alerted the closing lawyer that someone had used the woman’s information to fill out the application. The closing lawyer saw the driver’s license that was provided and saw that the picture was not the woman in question, the report said.

The loan application was done online and the closing process was stopped, according to the report.

Woman breaks into multiple cars

A woman who attempted to steal a bicycle also broke into multiple cars in the same area on Saturday, according to an ACCPD report.

The man who contacted the police said he had exited his home when he saw the woman standing near his truck. As she walked away, the man noticed the truck door was open. He took a picture of the woman and provided it to the police. She matched the description of a suspect who had attempted to steal a bicycle in the area earlier that morning, the report said.

Officers drove through the area attempting to locate the suspect. Another resident flagged officers down and reported another entering auto incident. The woman returned to the scene, at which point she was identified and arrested, according to the report.

Man steals $200 off of car seat

A man reached into a car, while the driver was inside, and stole approximately $200 off of the passenger seat on Thursday at the Apex gas station on North Avenue, according to an ACCPD report.

The driver said the suspect came up to the passenger window, reached into the car, took the money and walked away. The amount was between $200-$300 in $20 bills, the report said.

Cameras at the gas station recorded the incident. Video also showed the suspect leaving the scene in a Chevy Traverse.
