The Oct. 14 letter “Armed Men” was so filled with bias and misleading statements as to be ludicrous.
To begin with, a private citizen cannot, with a very few exceptions, own an automatic weapon.
Such ownership requires paying a hefty tax and undergoing a months-long vetting process by the Bureau Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives.
Secondly, the media-described peaceful protests in Seattle and Portland resulted in considerable destruction of private property and even a few murders.
The patriots who showed up in Sequim were there to help prevent such a thing from happening.
When the police are unable or unwilling to prevent such lawlessness, private citizens have both the right and the duty to do so.
Labeling them as white supremacists is merely an attempt to discredit them and their willingness stand up to protect their fellow citizens.
The Black Lives Matter movement has been identified as Marxist organization whose sole purpose is to foment and exploit violence and anarchy, and in doing so has established itself as a racist movement.
This has no place in our republic.
Those who recall history know very well what that led to in the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany.
The fact is that all lives matter.
The sure cure for racism if for all of us to respect the rights and dignity or each of our citizens.
