BIG RAPIDS — The Central State Activities Association recently released its annual list of individuals who’ve received first-team or honorable mention status for their efforts during the 2021 high school volleyball season.
For the gold division of the CSAA, student-athletes from schools located in Mecosta and Osceola counties saw a fair amount of recognition, with the likes of Chippewa Hills, Reed City and Big Rapids well-represented.
Chippewa Hills
From Chippewa Hills, seniors Kassie Yuncker and Brynn McArthur were named First Team All-Conference, while fellow senior Kendra Ray was an honroable mention.
At the outside hitter position, Yuncker capped her third season on the varsity squad as the team leader in kills, while also having the second-most dig and aces for the Warriors.
McArthur, a libero, led CH in digs and was second in total assists; Ray led the squad in assists and in serving.
Big Rapids
Paving the way on the court for the Cardinals this season was middle hitter Marissa Warren, who was named First Team All-CSAA.
As a sophomore, Warren led Big Rapids in blocks, digs and passing efficiency.
Cardinal junior outside hitter Jenna Willams picked up an Honorable Mention for her performance this season.
BR coach Emily VanCulin said Williams “...improved immensely this season.”
Reed City
For the Coyotes of Reed City, it was senior middle blocker Katelynn Holmes who received First Team All-Conference honors.
Holmes was RC’s team captain in ‘21 and a four-year player on the varsity squad, leading the Coyotes in aces (75) and digs (590), while posting 255 kills and 54 blocks along the way.
In her second year as a member of the varsity team, Reed City sophomore Kyleigh Weck posted a team-leading 256 kills, to go along with 56 aces, 184 digs and 71 blocks.
