CARLSBAD, Calif. — He’s Scott Boras, not Scott Boring.
(Why other way to start this than with a dad joke of our own?)
At the MLB GM Meetings on Wednesday, Boras was asked how he sees the Yankees fitting into the chase of Corey Seager and Marcus Semien, two of the shortstops he represents in free agency.

The Yankees are believed to be looking hard at high-end shortstops, and non-Boras clients include superstars Carlos Correa, Trevor Story and Javy Baez.
Boras had a string of one-liners ready when it came to his own guys, though.
“I think when you have Semien and Seger on the market — these people have character that is so understood by teams because of who they are, what they’ve achieved and what they’ve done,” Boras said.
Then Boras let the jokes fly.
“In Marcus’ case, he kind of brings a charge to the batter’s box,” Boras said. “He insulates the middle infield. He’s a truly a modern day Semien-conductor. And we all know there’s a shortage of chips worldwide.”
And what about Seager? Well, of course, Boras opted to make a bunch of musician Bob Seger references.
“The thing about Seager — Segars are used to being on big stages,” the agent said. “They have big hits. You can think of all of those Hollywood nights and postseason MVP. Oh, yeah. ... When you go through all of this and you say, well, you know, homers against the wind. Frankly, he’s a guy that everybody knows, he’s like a rock. Of course, his parents knew this. That’s why they named him Corey.”
As for the Yankees’ approach to the offseason, Boras said the team is “always very committed, very prepared and very understanding of what their needs are.”
Boras said that teams are approaching Boras about Segear as a shortstop, despite talk around the game that he might need to shift to third base due to his declining defensive metrics.
“I think teams view Corey Seager as a big play shortstop in big games. Teams are coming after Corey Seager as a shortstop,” Boras said.
He added the Seager enjoyed his time with the Dodgers.
“Corey’s experience in LA — he was a world champion. He was treated great. Really good communication levels. He had a great experience in LA and we look forward to talking about his future,” Boras said.
