Jeff Tweedy has released a cover of a number by the English singer-songwriter Bill Fay. The Wilco bandleader recorded “Filled With Wonder Once Again” for a series commemorating Fay’s 80th birthday. Check it out below.
Tweedy has previously taken on Fay’s “Be Not So Fearful” with Wilco, who made the song part of their live set in the late ’00s. Fay has joined the group on stage to perform it on multiple occasions, and he covered Wilco’s “Jesus, Etc.” with Tweedy on 2012’s Life Is People. In 2007, Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche backed Glenn O’Rourke for a take on Fay’s “Pictures of Adolf Again.”
Fay last issued an album in 2020 with Countless Branches, where “Filled with Wonder Once Again” appears. Wilco’s new Cousin arrived in late September. Steve Gunn, Mary Lattimore, and Kevin Morby have all recorded Fay covers for the celebratory series.
