Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – In an election to fill the open seat on the Cayce City Council in their District Three, Ann Bailey-Robinson won easily once all the votes were counted. Although these votes have not yet been certified, there is little chance the results will change as Bailey-Robinson took 58.49% or 31 of the 53-total votes cast. There were no write-ins votes and only 5 mail in absentee ballots received. That council district has a total of 2,326 registered voters.
Ms. Bailey Robinson was opposed by Robin Milton and J. Kelly Wuest. In the final tally, Wuest took 22.64% gathering 12 votes while Robin Milton received 10 votes for 18.87% of the total ballots cast.
Bailey-Robinson won despite a difficult week in her personal life. Last Saturday, she lost her brother whom she was close to. Despite this personal tragedy, she soldiered on. She is a woman of great faith and leaned on the Lord to help carry her through this difficult time.
Before running for the City of Cayce’s Council, Bailey-Robinson, who has been a health-care worker for 25 years, served as the secretary of the Cayce Beautification Foundation. She owns her own small business and considers herself to be an advocate for students and patients alike.
The lion’s share of District Three extends along the south side of Airport Boulevard from Sox Street to the Columbia Metropolitan Airport. It includes the area around Airport High School and Churchill Heights. It also includes some of the older portions of Cayce that run along Sunnyside Drive. It is bounded by Taylor Street, Baxter Street, Northland Drive, and continues past Julius Felder to Apple Street. It also includes the Hunters Mill subdivision and any of the City of Cayce portions of the Three Fountains area.
