This is Part I of a two-part series. 

The new Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial, designed by architect Frank Gehry, is being dedicated Thursday in Washington, D.C.

It includes a woven steel tapestry depicting Pointe du Hoc on the Normandy coast. Eisenhower was the Supreme Allied Commander during World War II and he led the D-Day invasion of Normandy — a turning point in that war.

Host Jeremy Hobson talks with Gehry about designing the memorial and his career as an architect.
