The Hazleton Area school board race may have been settled Tuesday, as four candidates appear to have advanced to the General Election on both Democratic and Republican ballots.
Linda DeCosmo, Gerald L. Feissner, Anthony Ryba and Ed Shemansky were the top vote-getters across the three counties of the school district, according to unofficial results from the counties.
Among Democrats, DeCosmo was the lone person to exceed 2,000 votes. Trailing her 2,095 votes were Feissner, 1,768; Shemansky, 1,672; and Ryba, 1,611.
Rounding out the field were Ive Eufracio-Childs, 1,356; Alexander van Hoekelen, 1,354; Yesenia Rodriguez, 1,216; Amilcar S. Arroyo, 1,191; and Marilyn Calderon, 968 votes.
Shemansky topped DeCosmo by three votes, 3,717 to 3,714. Ryba, had 3,681 and Feissner received 3,510.
The GOP field was completed by van Hoekelen, 2,828; Eufracio-Childs, 1,365; and Rodriguez, 902 votes.
