England saw its highest ever number of doctors applying for specialty training programmes this year and awarded more places than ever before, Health Education England has said, highlighting the stiff competition doctors face to get on to a specialty programme to continue their training.
HEE would not release figures on the total number of applicants for posts this year but did reveal that 7894 of posts starting in August 2022 had been filled—a fill rate of 99.7%.
