Here are a few ways to make quality wine-filled gummy bears at home:

Making Wine-Filled Gummy Bears

One of the most basic ways to prepare gummy bears that are drenched in wine is by using this method:

What you Need to Know:

It takes a minimum of 20 minutes to prepare, and 15 minutes to cook, bringing the total time to around 35 minutes. According to Brandi Crawford, this recipe can be an appetizer, a treat, or a dessert. It is a serving for ten people, and it packs 15 calories worth of energy.

Ingredients:

  • 5 cups of wine. You could use Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay. These go well with white or red wine gummy bears.
  • 75 tablespoons of Jell-O that is sugar-free. You can use raspberry or strawberry.

Instructions:

Step One – Pour the wine in a heated saucepan. After this, add the Jell-O to the wine and mix it till it dissolves. When the mixture becomes thick, continue stirring until there is no sign of the Jell-O. It is important to stir this mixture vigorously so that you do not end up with Jell-O clamps.

Step Two – Lower the heat on the saucepan while ensuring the mixture does not boil. Continue stirring until you get a consistent liquid outcome. If you find some clumps during this stage, you can use the back of the spoon to press the Jell-O against the side of the saucepan to help in breaking it down and ease dissolving.

Step Three – Once it is in its liquid state, add sugar into the mix and continue stirring. Then, turn off the heat and leave the saucepan on the stove to retain the warmth. Herein, you will see a bubbly foam on the top of the mixture, depending on the type of wine you used. For example, Rose forms a bubbly white foam, which is a good sign.

Step Four – Work hastily with gummy bear molds and the eyedropper tool they come with to make molds with the mixture. In case your wine mix has a layer of foam, position the eyedropper under this foam to get to the liquid and avoid air bubbles. As much as the foam layer is edible, it undermines the clarity of the gummy bears. A good trick is to use the mixture under the foam and rinse it off later while you are washing the saucepan.

It is important to ensure that you use up this mixture before it thickens. Working with it in a sticky and thick state will prove difficult. Also, it is advisable to place the mold in your fridge for 10 to 15 minutes to let it be firm.

Once ready, you can eat your wine-filled gummy bears straight from the fridge. You can also leave them out at room temperature if you do not prefer them cold. The only difference between the two is that the refrigerated ones will be firmer than the ones left at room temperature.

However, they will be chewy either way. Be sure to store them in a sealed container in your fridge for a period not exceeding a week.
