WEST CHESTER — Applications are now being accepting to fill an interim judicial vacancy in the Chester County Court of Common Pleas, state Sen. Andy Dinniman announced.

“Those interested in being considered for an interim appointment should apply now,” Dinniman said. “Gov. Wolf will appoint a successor who must then be confirmed by a two-thirds vote of the Pennsylvania Senate.

It must be completed in its entirety in Microsoft Word or PDF format and returned by email to PA-JudicialSelectionApplication@pa.gov, no later than 11:59 p.m., Eastern Daylight Time, Tuesday, June 30.

The Governor’s Judicial Advisory Commission will review all applications and conduct interviews on a rolling basis. Any person so appointed shall serve for a term ending on January 3, 2022.

The Chester County vacancy comes as part of 10 vacancies in Courts of Common Pleas across Pennsylvania as a result of elections and resignations.

To be eligible for appointment to a vacancy on the Court of Common Pleas, applicants must be at least 21 years of age, a member of the Pennsylvania bar, must have resided within the relevant district for one year before their appointment and must continue to do so while in office.

The Governor’s Judicial Advisory Commission will screen all applicants to determine whether they meet the qualifications mandated by the Constitution and laws of the Commonwealth and whether they possess the necessary personal qualifications of character, integrity, experience, competence, and temperament.
