FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) - The Electric Works project officially has its anchor tenant.
On Wednesday, Do it Best, Corp. finalized and signed a lease with the campus.
What comes next for Electric Works is finalizing the pricing and bidding for the rest of the construction work.
Also Wednesday, an informational meeting was held for minority, women and veteran-owned businesses.
The goal, according to organizers, is to reach and engage more people in the community.
A Fort Wayne organization, Joshua Works, is leading the effort to get more opportunities for workers and companies here at home.
And Electric Works developers say they're on board.
"We also want people to understand that this program is not for us to check a box for this particular project. This is to grow a program that will far outlive Electric Works phases 1, 2, 3 and beyond and be greater for the workforce of Northeast Indiana," said Kevan Biggs, of RTM Ventures.
The target for full financial closing is the end of September, and construction is expected to begin right after in October.
