Here’s a look at the weather across Michigan this weekend.
First off I want to tell you that although there are thunderstorms in the forecast, any one spot may only have two or three hours of wet weather total for the weekend.
So, in my mind, it’s the time of year when you should keep your plans and do what you want to do. You only need to use your commonsense on weather safety, and keep a close eye to the forecast for the next six to 12 hours. Boaters, campers and hikers will want to know what’s coming during the time they are away from sturdy shelter.
It’s also the time of year when storms are more likely late in the afternoon and evening, and around sunrise. The storms typically dry up for the late morning and early afternoon hours. So if you want to give yourself an even higher chance of dry weather, plan on something from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Now here are the quick specifics.

Rainfall forecast from early Saturday morning to late Sunday night
The rain forecast above shows two clumps of thunderstorms zipping through Michigan this weekend. One clump comes through the U.P. and northern Lower Friday night and early Saturday morning. The second clump of storms could be strong or severe and blow through some part of Lower Michigan Saturday night and Sunday morning. I’ll fine tune when and where tomorrow and on the weekend.
It’s a flat-out summery weekend. Below are the low temperatures and high temperatures expected for Saturday and Sunday.

Low temperature forecast for Saturday, July 18, 2020
Saturday starts as a great summer morning, and ends as a hot afternoon across all of Michigan, especially southern Lower Michigan.

High temperature forecast for Saturday, July 18, 2020

Low temperature forecast for Sunday, July 19, 2020
Sunday afternoon’s high temperatures will depend on how quickly the storms dry up Sunday morning, and how quickly the clouds part. I feel like afternoon temperatures in the upper 80s will be very common over the southern half of Lower Michigan. Northern Lower may have temperatures staying in the low-to-mid 80s. The far southeast corner, including Ann Arbor and Detroit, may still warm into the lower 90s.

High temperature forecast for Sunday, July 19, 2020
The dew point is a temperature at which the air would be saturated and humidity would be 100%. But what you really need to know is the higher the dew point, the more muggy the air will feel. So the dew point forecasts below show we will feel muggy through the entire weekend.

Dew point temperature forecast for 2 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 2020

Dew point temperature forecast for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2020
Wind speeds this weekend won’t be strong, but will be steady in the 10 mph to 20 mph range. If you plan on boating, you’ll want to head to the part of your lake sheltered from southwest winds Saturday and west-northwest winds Sunday.

Wind forecast for 2 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 2020

Wind forecast for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2020
The summation of this weekend - a very muggy, and very warm to hot period. Watch for one or two quick bursts of storms at your location. Severe weather is possible for a short time, around one-half hour to one hour in any one spot.
