NORMAN, Okla. — Billy Bowman Jr. didn’t waste any time making plays in an Oklahoma uniform.
In a short highlight video released by OU of its first spring practice Monday, Bowman stepped in front of wide receiver Marvin Mims and picked off quarterback Spencer Rattler, setting off a celebration in the Everest Indoor Training Center.
In recent weeks, it was defensive coordinator Alex Grinch doing the celebrating after Bowman — the No. 43 prospect and No. 2 athlete for 2021, per the 247Sports Composite — chose to begin his college career as a defensive back. He’s currently working at nickelback.
“We won that recruiting battle within these walls, which was an important one for us,” Grinch said Monday with a smile.
