Red Sox at Rangers lineups: Can Garrett Richards do it again? - Over The Monster

maknains.blogspot.com

The Red Sox look to avoid their first series loss since the opening three-game sweep against the Orioles when they face the Rangers this afternoon in Arlington (2:35 p.m., NESN).

Richards can build on a superlatively good performance against the Mets, in which he gained significant lateral movement on his pitches, per the most famous OTM alum on the Around the Horn panel:

This was intentional, as the Globe’s Tom Westerholm reported:

“We came up with something that would be simple for me to be able to repeat and importantly, it gives me a chance to gather over the rubber instead of kind of rolling through it like I was,” [Richards] told reporters after the game. “Just making an emphasis of getting a good gather over the rubber at the top has really helped me.”

Mike Foltynewicz, like Richards trying to rebuild his reputation, starts for the Rangers. He’s been fine so far, with a 4.61 ERA. I guess that’s fine? I think it’s fine. Anyhow Brock Holt is back for Texas so \o/, victory is assured.
