Having doled out $9.5 million for a palatial Sherman Oaks mansion last year, looks like San Francisco 49ers co-owner and onetime Facebook moneyman Gideon Yu and longtime wife Susie are now ready to put down permanent roots in Los Angeles, leaving NorCal behind. The couple are listing their primary home in the sought-after Silicon Valley enclave of Atherton with a $27 million ask, hoping to garner a profit on the lavish spread. Records reveal they paid $21 million for the house in 2016, back when it was newly built.

Long before Korean-born Yu gained notoriety as the first person of color to serve as president of any team in NFL history, the Stanford and Harvard grad was one of Silicon Valley’s most well-respected tech executives. He likely is best known for his time as CFO at Facebook and YouTube, the first two Internet companies to surpass 1 billion active users. At Facebook, Yu led the investment round from Microsoft and Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka Shing at a then record-setting valuation for Internet companies, and at YouTube, he negotiated its sale to Google amid a highly competitive auction.

Also an early investor and adviser in technology unicorns such as Dropbox and Opendoor, Yu currently serves as founder and co-chairman of Stampede Ventures. Formed in 2017, the independent production company most recently partnered with Jackson Pictures to bring Ken Nolan’s “The Debriefing” to the big screen.

The listing agents for the Yu’s Atherton estate are Mary Gullixson, Brent Gullixson and Michael Warren, all of Compass.

Resting on a 1.05-acre parcel in prime Atherton — where nearby neighbors include pro basketballer Steph Curry, Google founder Sergey Brin, WhatsApp’s Jan Koum and Warriors owner Joe Lacob — the Yu’s six-bedroom, 7.5-bath mansion is accessed via private gates, with a brick-lined driveway spilling into a spacious motor court and three-car garage.
