A sunny day with warm weather brought many people out to Connecticut’s state parks and beaches on Sunday.
As their parking lots filled to capacity, officials closed the public spaces to additional visitors.
Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme was the first to close, with authorities announcing at 9:15 a.m. that its parking lot was full.
Connecticut state parks are managed by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. The department announces closures on its Twitter account.

These state parks were closed on Sunday as their parking lots filled to capacity:
Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme at 9:15 a.m.
Bigelow Hollow State Park in Union at 9:15 a.m.
Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison at 10:13 a.m.
Sherwood Island State Park in Westport at 10:47 a.m.
Wadsworth Falls State Park in Middletown at 10:47 a.m.
Millers Pond State Park in Haddam at 10:49 a.m.
Silver Sands State Park in Milford at 11:04 a.m.
Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford at 11:30 a.m.
Gardner Lake State Park in Salem at 12:16 p.m.
