CASA of Harrison County hosted a community giveaway for book bags and school supplies this afternoon at their headquarters in Gulfport.
CASA of Harrison County gave away 150 book bags filled with essential items for a successful school year such as markers, pencils, paper, and folders.
It was first come, first serve while supplies lasted and anyone could come receive the supplies. CASA Program Support Coordinator Jourdan Hartshorn said, “The reason we’re doing this is because we as CASA have a select population we work with which is kids that are neglected and abused and have some kind of CPS involvement. We decided this month with COVID a lot of people are suffering and we can’t do this all the time and what we want to give back to the community is to spread awareness. The reason why is we want people to know that CASA of Harrison County is here on the Gulf Coast.”
The community giveaway was made possible by donations from community members, Memorial Hospital, Cedar Lake Assembly, and Shear Polish Salon.
