Talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel is teaming up with a popular YouTube creator and big names like Adam Sandler, Chris Rock and Maya Rudolph for an interactive online event to support autism services.
Kimmel and Mark Rober, a former NASA engineer who’s known for his popular science videos on YouTube, will host the three-hour streaming event, “Color The Spectrum: A Livestream To Support The Autism Community,” on YouTube later this month.
The fundraiser will bring together celebrities and YouTube creators for musical performances, comedy skits and “DIY science stunts,” organizers said.

Andy Samberg, Conan O’Brien, John Oliver, Jack Black, Jon Stewart, Mark Hamill, Sarah Silverman, Stephen Colbert, Terry Crews, Paul Rudd and Zach Galifianakis are expected to participate along with YouTube personalities Marques Brownlee, MrBeast and Rhett & Link. Viewers will be able to engage with the show’s hosts and guests in real-time, according to those behind the event.
Funds raised will benefit NEXT For Autism, a group that creates and supports innovative programs for people with autism.
Rober, whose son has autism, called the event an “unprecedented opportunity to bring together traditional entertainment stars with some of the world’s biggest YouTube creators.”
“The best part is that this is all being done for people in need and who are so deserving,” he said.
Rober indicated that he was inspired by the “Night of Too Many Stars,” a biannual fundraiser for NEXT For Autism that has aired on Comedy Central and HBO.
“Color The Spectrum” is being produced by Kimmel’s team along with Michelle and Robert Smigel, who created “Night of Too Many Stars.”
“It’s been a year since we had to cancel our ‘Night of Too Many Stars’ benefit and many of the programs and schools we support are hurting greatly. So we’re beyond grateful to Mark and Jimmy for making this happen for NEXT for Autism,” Robert Smigel said.
“Color The Spectrum” will air live on April 30 at 8 p.m. ET on Rober’s YouTube channel.
