The Internet Is Loving This Meme-Filled Coffee Company - Grit Daily

In March of 2020, Los Angeles couple Ashley Vasquez and Zachary Dripps met through a mutual friend — the night before the world shut down. The couple’s chemistry was instant, but the announcement of a global pandemic led to a dating life that was slightly unconventional yet immensely more interesting.

With the world under lockdown, Zach and Ashley didn’t have the option of building their relationship through dinner dates and nights out on the town. Instead, they decided to take a risk and do something radically different — launching a coffee company together.

The couple’s creative drive and similar taste in humor formed the basis for their new brand. With an idea to sell coffee in bags inspired by internet trends, they named their business “TBD Coffee Co”. With names like “Per my last email…”, “Gotta Put Pants on Today”, and “Pete Davidson Dated this Coffee”, each bag of coffee is ethically sourced and roasted fresh to order.

TBD’s mission is to become “the internet’s favorite coffee”, combining bold flavors with an even bolder personality. “We know we’re in a really competitive industry,” says Vasquez. “Our coffee is amazing, but everyone talks about how amazing their coffee is. We needed to differentiate ourselves, so we wanted to do that in a way that was fun and authentic.”

The company’s marketing doesn’t stop with uniquely named brews packed in colorfully designed bags. In addition to this, their director of consumer affairs is an adorable dachshund named Marlee and their social media channels feature ASMR videos overlaid with comedic narration. “We want our brand to bring people joy across every touchpoint, from the coffee itself to our social media content,” commented Dripps. “We’re here to have fun.”

TBD’s coffee has been served at companies like Twitter, ABC, and Horizon Media and is currently available direct-to-consumer through the company’s website. TBD warmly welcomes customers to join their quickly-growing community of humor-loving, roasted-to-order coffee fans.
