Although it has been over a decade since Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint parted ways with the wizarding world, their love for the Harry Potter franchise hasn’t diminished the slightest. Considering that concluding the iconic franchise back in the early 2010s was pretty emotional for everyone, some of the cast and crew members decided to mark them with permanent Harry Potter tattoos.
Even though Rupert Grint was on board with the idea of inking himself to honor the legacy of the franchise, the rest of the two prominent stars would part ways with this idea due to their respective reasons.
Daniel Radcliffe’s reasoning behind not getting inked
Like Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe too wasn’t against the idea of inking himself with a Harry Potter tattoo, as he was always open to the idea of getting different tattoos on his skin. However, the Kill Your Darlings Star had to brush off this idea, as after moving on from Hogwarts, Radcliffe was landing gigs, where he had to show a lot of skin, following several s-x scenes involved in his jobs. Although the actor came close to marking himself, he joked that it’ll only make the make-up artists hate him. He said,
“There will always be, like, a makeup artist who I know will be like, ‘Don’t do it, we have to cover them and we secretly hate you for it,’”
But unlike Radcliffe, who was initially on board with the idea of oinking himself in order to honor the legacy of Harry Potter, his costar Emma Watson ruled out the possibility of getting tattooed instantly.
Emma Watson was never on board with the idea of a tattoo
When the filming of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 concluded, unlike many of her costars, who were ready to brand themselves with ink, Emma Watson couldn’t see herself getting tattooed. But despite brushing off the idea, she was interested in honoring the franchise’s legacy in a more meaningful way. According to the actress, even though she loves tattoos on others’ bodies, her self-image won’t allow her to get a tattoo. She explained,
Although the plans of inking themselves with Harry Potter tattoos to commemorate the franchise’s legacy never came to fruition, their love for the iconic story that pushed them to stardom remains unaffected.
The Harry Potter movies are available to stream on Max.
