However, that was a joke and recently actor Matt Damon, who played Leslie Groves in the movie, gave some more information about the iconic picture.
Robert Downey Jr. posted a picture with John Krasinski and the cast of Oppenheimer
Before the worldwide release of Oppenheimer, actor Robert Downey Jr. posted a picture with fellow stars Matt Damon, Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, and John Krasinski. Downey captioned the picture,
“Linking up with my Oppenheimer cast mates…wait, is that a Krasinski photo bomb or might there be a surprise cameo???”
The caption left the fans wondering if Krasinski will make a surprise appearance in the movie. However, that did not happen and the story behind the picture is quite hilarious.
Matt Damon talked about the viral picture
Actor Matt Damon, who played General Leslie Groves in Oppenheimer, recently appeared on Capital FM’s Capital Breakfast and talked about the viral picture. He was asked to share more information about it and the actor replied,
“Em, John, and I live in the same building in New York and that’s on the rooftop of the building, and we had the guys over because we were in New York doing press and Downey was insisting, he was like, ‘We got to take a picture but he was like, John, you got to be in the picture and you have to look like you’re photobombing it,’ and John’s like, ‘I don’t want to do it.'”
In the end, Krasinski did make an appearance in the picture, which sparked discussions on social media.
Matt Damon praised Cillian Murphy
Actor Cillian Murphy’s portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer in the movie was remarkable. Everyone, including Damon, agrees with the fact that Murphy’s dedication is unparalleled. In the interview, Damon praised Murphy’s work,
“First of all, Cillian is one of the greatest screen performances I’ve ever seen. He’s amazing in this movie. The whole movie was put on his back,” adding, “He just really embodied this guy and he had to. He was in every single frame of the movie basically, so he had to just kind of go into this tunnel for months and, you know, he lost all this weight. He looks so much like Oppenheimer and it’s just an awesome performance.”
Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer narrated the story of Julius Robert Oppenheimer, also known as the “father of the atomic bomb.” He was an American theoretical physicist and director of the Manhattan Project’s Los Alamos Laboratory during World War II.
